Don’t give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.” — John Wooden.

The moment you believe you cannot do it, everything else begins to crumble. Never stop believing. Many people convince themselves they will have time for their dreams in the future – but there is never a better time than now.

Raise a toast, cling a drink, define your dream, and step into New Year 2024. Now take a notebook and write about your dream. There is nothing more powerful than writing down your dream as it makes it easier to pursue it during the year. When you put your goals in writing at the beginning of the year, they take on a new significance and power. Especially if the goals are accompanied by a picture depicting the outcome you want. Think of it as your pictorial guide or encyclopedia for the rest of the year. Your mind catches on to it and directs you to attain those goals during the remainder of the year if you are committed to them.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work. All our dreams can come true if we dare to pursue them. Yesterday is today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

Why am I recommending the arduous task of writing your dream if you do not write things down, it is almost certain you will not achieve them. You will have given your mind nothing to work with and nothing to focus on. The pressures of life will distract you and a month or two down the line you will be back doing the routine things of life. Your dreams will likely be tossed in the pending tray.

But, how to handle the situation when you are not sure about your dream or are negative about your dream that it is impossible to achieve the same.

How can you fulfil your dreams?

  • Select a dream to fulfil. Some of us have so many dreams swirling in our minds, that we do not know where to start.
  • Believe it is achievable.
  • Ask for help.
  • Adjust your life as necessary.
  • Set a deadline.
  • Tell others.
  • Stay focused.

If you belong to a different category when your dream is BIG and needs heavy financial resources then planning to the last detail is important. You will have to take so many things under consideration like from where you can raise the funds. Begin with talking to your banks or family and friends etc. You should also start taking stock of your situation. For this, you need to break things down into small steps that you can manage. This will greatly boost your confidence and you will feel empowered and capable of achieving your goals once you can fulfil the smaller steps that are required to get there. It also helps to break a big task into smaller steps because then your mind will be able to see them as attainable and not quite as daunting.

Simple tips to stay calm, confident, and organized as you prepare to make your dreams a reality.

  • Dream big.
  • Visualize your goals.
  • Take breaks when you need them.
  • Stop comparing yourself to others.
  • Stay organized with a 1-3-5 List.
  • Do not be discouraged by small setbacks.
  • Use your community.

Besides, if you have a trustworthy family or a circle of friends, it is right to discuss your dream. He/ She should be someone you trust and someone who will encourage you rather than discourage you. Such a person can help you to keep on track when you go off-course. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell someone else, especially if you fear that you might fail. If you choose the right person this should not be a problem. They may feel honoured that you told them out of so many others you could have told and they may end up being a great shoulder to lean on.

“Make New Year’s goals. Dig within, and discover what you would like to have happen in your life this year. This helps you do your part. It is an affirmation that you are interested in fully living life in the year to come. Goals give us direction. They put a powerful force into play on a universal, conscious, and subconscious level. Goals give our life direction.”  ― Melody Beattie

A New Year is nothing as only calendar changes and dates leave us excited about the coming days. It’s a good date to start following up on your dreams which we keep postponing in the current year. During this period of year, we are full of hopes and start thinking about our dreams which were left unfulfilled in the current year. It is not right to give up our dreams in the New Year as these remained unfulfilled in the last year. Be positive about the arrival of the New Year as it brings in new hope and new promises. Life looks sprightly once again while we bid goodbye to the current year.

It should be realized that simply flipping over the pages of the calendar doesn’t change many of the challenges that we face, as individuals, communities, and as human beings. I am convinced that in every crisis lies opportunity, and that there is a solution to every problem if we are bold enough to try new ways of doing things. And through all of this, your strengths are some of your greatest resources. No one can ever take them away from you, and you can use them in every aspect of your life and work.

Now that you are on track, keep track of your progress and keep moving, before you know it, you will find yourself achieving your goals one by one and living your dream life.
