Positive psychology is a movement started by professor Martin Seligman. It is a field of psychology which studies the power of psychology in improving the daily experience of humans. It recognizes the difficulty of existence and seeks to ease it with a better understanding of the human mind & behavior.
Today there are almost 4 billion internet users in the world and out of these more than a billion use facebook alone. Then there are other social mediums such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. That is a lot of people actively participating in a global culture and contributing to the collective human consciousness. Something beyond the control of any one person. It has provided a unique insight into the human mind like never before. We can now study the randomness of culture and actually measure it, quantify it, qualify it. Happyho also provide best Meditation classes and yoga classes in Noida and Delhi NCR India area.
What we find is that a lot of social media is spent on self-advertising, a vanity project to feel better about one’s own self. Which in turn perpetuates a culture of competition and materialism. The remaining is dedicated to other things such as navigation, information, entertainment, but mainly it is about self-expression.
All that energy and time spent on putting on a façade of wellness, while being unhappy and feeling incomplete. Not being able to relate to other humans as no one is their true selves on social media. Even if they are, the chance, that someone will believe it, is rare. What with all the negativity floating around on the internet?
Well, the first and most effective thing you can do is take charge of the power you have. Your own social media. As one of the 2 billion people using social media, you are a drop in the same ocean and have the potential to make ripples, even if little ones. Enough little ripples and there is a wave. Enough waves and there is a tsunami.
A tsunami of positivity. What a glorious day!
All of our worst behavior as a species is exposed on the internet. And while this in itself is not a bad thing, but the spread of good news falls behind by a huge margin compared to bad news. And it is this, where there can be a fundamental change in the way people interact with social media.
Everyday if you choose to share more articles and posts that foster positivity instead of a negative feeling, there can be a significant difference in the lives of people who engage with you on social media. Just like laughter, positivity is contagious. Do it enough times, and people will follow your cue. And Voila! We have ourselves a positive takeover of the internet.
After all, that is all happyho is about!
