Navratan Foundations, primarily known for its efforts towards skill development and education in women and children, is the brainchild of Mr. Ashok Srivastava who laid its foundation in 2003 with his motto being “ I will make the difference!”
Navratan is currently operating and responsible for the following projects:
- Astitva
With a vision to empower women and use skill development as an agent, Navratan created ‘Astitva’- a project under which women from remote villages and slums get vocational and skill training. Navratan strongly believes that such skill development for women is key to improving a rural household’s productivity and employability. Happyho also provides best Meditation and Tarot classes in Noida and Delhi NCR India area
A 6-Month Certificate Course has been adapted to train women in basics of cutting, stitching and tailoring so that they can gain enough skill to start working in any establishment or set up their own venture. Currently, Navratan Foundations has opened 31 Women Tailoring Training Centers.
- Samarpan
Every year through its annual function ‘Samarpan’, Navratan Foundations honors unsung heroes in the field of social welfare. For this, their staff reaches out to the general people for possible nominees and finalises shortlisted applications, assessed by an experienced jury. After analysing their efforts and impact on the society, the selected social workers are duly invited with utmost respect at the function and felicitated with citation and a cash award.
Navratan also encourages the nurturing of people with hidden talents in the field of art by not only providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities but also by arranging for professional training for them.
- Navratan Gyanpeeth
Under this project, an informal education center is being run at Sector 8, Noida where children who belong to the underprivileged section are being given grassroot education, for them to be able to form a concrete foundation for the rest of their lives.
With all its ongoing and future projects, Navratan envisions to meet the following targets by the year 2020:
1.Promote skill development in women
2.Support basic education in underprivileged children
3. Provide a platform for promoting unseen talent in the fields of education, culture, sports and vocational activities
4. To create awareness about hygiene and sanitation
5. To enhance emotional intelligence through life mentoring
