The World Happiness Report is published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, which is a global initiative started in 2012 for United Nations (UN). The report contains the world happiness index of 158 countries based on a survey conducted by Gallup.
The survey report that come out in 2015, places India at 117th position. The survey shows Pakistan way above India at 81st place. Though, the report cannot be taken on face value and various factors need to be taken into consideration, it definitely is a cause of concern.

A study authorised by the Ministry of AYUSH indicates that Yoga can help addicts reduce dependency on drugs and improve the overall quality of their life. The study was concluded this year at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
As per an official communique the study funded under the Extra Mural Research (EMR) scheme of the Ministry of AYUSH uses Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY) and meditation along with regular treatment among a group of drug addicts, specially heroin users. The study was conducted in National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), East Delhi where eighty four drug addicts participated in the study.
The study showed that in the group where Yoga was used as an intervention, frequency of drug use was reduced. It also indicated that Yoga intervention led to a significant change in the physical, social relationship and environmental domains of quality of life.
