One day when Bodhi didn’t come out of the bathroom for a long time we knocked on the door and called out to him. He came out after sometime and said that he had got so absorbed in listening to the song of Bhagwad Gita that he didn’t realise how long he had been inside. Surprised, we asked him where was the ‘song of Bhagwat Gita’ going on? For, we could not hear any songs.
He said that while in the bathroom, suddenly the sound of many singing birds reached his ear. The birds were all singing from the trees outside the bathroom window. “The melody of each and every single bird was the most beautiful music ever heard. While I was lost in their nectarine songs, Baba Lokenath’s words about Gita came to my mind — “Gita is not to be studied but it is a geet (song) to be listened”. And then, I didn’t realise when my hands joined together on their own and went to my forehead. I felt that my Divine Mother was singing the song of the Gita Herself and calling out to the whole world to see how beautiful she is! How beautiful her creations are! Ma dekhachhen, ami koto sundor, amar srishti koto sundor. I remained like that without my own knowledge.”
We have often heard him say,
“Amid all suffering and commotion pervading in the world, a constant reminder is scattered everywhere for all of us to listen. They are there, yes they are there, all times, surrounding us from all sides, available at all moments, loud and clear, waiting for us to just stop and notice.”
He also says, “To be in a meditative state is not about where you are. It’s not about the physical sanctity of a space. You can be at a temple before the deity and your mind can be in the bathroom. You can be in the bathroom and your mind can be at the temple of worship. What is a temple? A temple is where god lives. When mind lives in god, it dwells in the temple.”
