FAILURE – Failure is a natural phenomenon yet it is such an awful taboo in our society. The whole society is so success inclined that we do not allow our children to learn from their failures. Because we do not allow them to fail they do not learn how to be successful in life.

I have not seen anyone learning bicycle without falling. I have not seen a person learning driving a car without banging it once or twice. I have not seen any happy relationship without a few failed relationships in past. Some of the well known iconic business tycoons also had illustrious track record of failing before becoming heroes in their own right. Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln all had a terrible track record of their failure. So why is failure a taboo that in schools where we ensure no one fails. We teach children that Failure is a bad word and so we curb their ability to risk out.  A naughty child is risking everything to fail for an experience which will be so unique for him to inspire and guide him for rest of his life.

There is something very interesting about failure. A friend of mine use to tell me that no-one can make him fail because he stands the last in the queue. But those standing before him are necessarily not better than him it is just that he does not want to run the race with them.”  The famous zen master Lau Tzu use to say ” Nobody can defeat me as I refuse to compete”.  Everybody is running his own race and also choose the players to run with. We fail because we choose the wrong race and wrong people to run with. We also fail because we have predetermined results or we want to control and influence the results. If we have tasted a profound failure we are done with the fear of failure so nothing afterwards can make me fail.

What happens when suddenly we taste failure after a long spell of success It happens with every one, politician, businessmen, sports person, film star, socialite, every one,  we all have tried to run the race with predetermined results. Just run the pleasure is in running, failure and success are just the bye products.
