If a loved one is suffering from cancer and you have to witness their pain while going through it’s treatment, here is some heartening news for you that can reduce the side effects tremendously and subsequently help in curing the disease.
In India alternative medicine has always been in practice since ancient times. And now these medicine and therapies are getting validated scientifically too. Recently the cancer centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has successfully tested a coded ayurvedic drug for improving quality of life of breast cancer patients, although this medicine doesn’t play any role in curing the disease.
The testing was carried out over three years. Initial reports confirm that the drug is helpful in reducing the side effects like hair fall, nausea and fall in vital blood parameters. Dr G K Rath, head of the cancer centre at AIIMS has submitted the report to the research wing of the AYUSH ministry . Happyho also provide best tarot reading services in Noida and Delhi NCR India area.
According to the researchers, further statistical analysis is being conducted at AYUSH to quantify the benefits of the drug following which it might even be patented.
In the AIIMS study, 60 patients were subdivided into two groups, one group received only standard treatment while the other received the coded ayurvedic drug in addition to radiotherapy and chemotherapy for three years. The latter had a significantly better recovery rate. A more extensive, multi-centric study might be conducted to re-evaluate the benefits following vlog which the drug can be recommended for therapeutic use.
AIIMS is also planning to conduct similar trials for validating the efficacy of certain ayurvedic drugs for prostate and lung cancer.
According to Dr. Abhishek Shankar, a research associate although the alternative therapies are followed by many in India and in some cases and positive outcomes had bene observed but most practitioners do not share the ingredients used. He warned against following these therapies as a cure for cancer. They can only help improve quality of life. People should not waste time seeing the self-proclaimed healers for treatment.
Researchers said that at present nearly 20% of cancer patients at AIIMS discontinue treatment because of side effects. The ayurvedic drugs and other alternative therapies being researched upon can act as a complementary therapy to reduce various side effects and improve the outcome of the main treatment–radiation and chemotherapy.
Moreover it’s not just the alternative medicine, the AYUSH ministry is seriously considering validating the application of yoga in improving quality of life in cancer patients. The ministry is considering research proposals from many cancer institutes for the same.
