Maitreyi sold her maths tutoring business and signed up for acting classes at the age of 40. Now an actor, producer and stand-up comedian, she asks us to question whether true passion has an expiry date. Maitreyi Karanth is an actor, producer, writer, humanitarian and stand-up comedian. This multi-talented performer, who has been a part of various TV series and movies, embarked on her artistic journey at the age of 40. She continues to break stereotypes, push boundaries – especially in comedy in Hong Kong – and lives by the adage that ‘true passion has no expiry date’. Maitreyi also video impacts lives through her acts of kindness. She is actively involved in feeding people experiencing homelessness in Hong Kong and uses proceeds from her shows to build homes for the poor in the Philippines and Thailand.
