Whenever you are pulled into any negative spiral, become aware of its evil impact; stop, start inhaling and exhaling deeply and after minimum 10 counts of such breaths, stop, and now inhale and suggest, I am consciously breathing in and I feel calm. Exhale deep and say inside, I am consciously breathing out, and feeling relaxed and released. Do this next 5 to 10 cycles, it is a matter of few minutes but you will see how you can help yourself and uplift yourself so easily.
